Archetype is inspired by the work of psychologist Dr. Carl Jung and mythographer Joseph Campbell who defined ‘archetypes’ as the constantly repeating characters who occur in the dreams of all people and the myths of all cultures. Campbell discovered through his study of world myths that the ‘Hero’s Journey’ is a common storytelling arc that has been retold in infinite variations since time began.Ventura Cigar Co.
Ventura Cigar Co. introduced their Archetype lineup at IPCPR 2016 to a fairly good amount of buzz. There were five blends introduced at launch, all showcasing more nuanced blends with wrappers in the natural range. But potentially the most interesting aspect was the cigar’s origins—with two blends coming from Davidoff’s Occidental Kelner Cigars in the Dominican Republic (as other Ventura cigars have been made in the past), one blend coming from Camacho’s AgroIndustrias Laepe S.A. factory in Honduras, and two blends coming from Drew Estate’s La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate factory in Nicaragua. The latter has many enthusiasts suddenly becoming acquainted with Ventura, as Drew Estate’s factory is among the world’s most highly regarded and has not been known to produce cigars for other brands in the past.
The Archetype Initiation is among the two blends being made at Drew Estate’s factory—the other being the Archetype Axis Mundi.
