The most notable winners for March include the Fuente Fuente OpusX 20 Years Celebration, Liga Privada T52, and Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series Natural.

OpusX 20 Years Celebration was the highly-anticipated extension to the legendary OpusX name—the cigars celebrate the brand’s twenty years since launching in 1995, using a tweaked blend that includes lower priming for the renowned OpusX Dominican wrapper. The blend was released in December of 2016 in very limited quantities and was added to Cigar Wars a few weeks later. Since then, 20 Years (aka OpusX Blue Label) has been steadily climbing the rankings, finally claiming its first winning spot in March, as the highest-ranked Dominican cigar.

Liga T52 had puzzlingly remained out of the Cigar Wars database more than a year after Cigar Wars kicked off in late 2015! Naturally, its debut shot to the top—scoring the second best winning record in CW history (for a cigar in its first week) at 85%. There’s no doubt, this will be a likely candidate for a future Hall of Fame cigar.

And speaking of which, Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series Natural claimed the top spot for the third time this month (the other two being in October & November), meaning it has officially become the fourth cigar to be admitted into the Cigar Wars Hall of Fame! Interestingly, as Liga T52 became the second highest-scoring new cigar addition this month, Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series Natural is the cigar that holds the top spot—scoring a 91% record in June, 2016.

Every month, five to twenty cigars are added to the Cigar Wars database in groups of five cigars. Seven days following a group’s debut, we rank each cigar based on its winning percentage after one week in battle. While our established leaderboard uses the Battle Rating score to rank cigars, we use winning percentage to rank Cigars of the Week to avoid the ever-fluctuating battle rankings throughout the week—which we feel are better suited for the day-to-day rankings. Therefore, the weekly rankings won’t be skewed by a single day’s votes when tallying up the scores.

These are the top 12 winning percentages (cigar’s 1st week, debuting in March, 2017) for a single week in battle:
