Rocky Patel, a former product liability lawyer based in Los Angeles, entered into the premium cigar industry in 1996 during the peak of the great cigar boom. A time of intense competition, leading into a recession to follow, few companies that debuted during this period made it out the other side. Rocky Patel and his fledgling cigar operation (then known as Indian Tabac Cigar Co.) were one such entity, proving themselves worthy of the consumer's hard-earned dollar.
Rocky Patel is often referred to as the hardest working man in the business, as he constantly travels the country in support of his brand. He has been known to log more than 300 days on the road each year, once visiting 600 cities within 750 days. Rocky pioneered the modern popularity of cigar celebrity, as nearly all companies now feature prominent personalities for consumers to engage with.
Today, Rocky Patel Premium Cigars is headquartered in Naples, Florida. Rocky is now joined by family members Nish Patel (brother) and Nimish Desai (cousin), as well as famed Cuban artisan Hamlet Paredes as the faces of the brand. Rocky Patel cigars are handcrafted in Honduras at the El Paraíso factory and Nicaragua at the company's own TAVICUSA factory. Additionally, Rocky Patel now owns their own tobacco farms throughout Nicaragua, whose leaves are now featured throughout many of the company's cigars.
