One year after debuting the Asylum 13 Medulla Oblongata, the company returned with the followup Asylum 13 Medulla Oblongata Maduro variant in 2018. Like the original, the cigars are packaged in split boxes, with each half of the box representing the dual hemispheres of the human brain. One side of the box (Medulla) offers the cigars in a traditional, round format, while the other (Oblongata) showcases the same blend in a box-pressed shape.
Where 2017's cigars boasted 100% Honduran Corojo leaves from the famed Eiroa tobaccos farms, the maduro counterpart uses a similar binder/filler, swapping the wrapper for a Mexican San Andrés maduro leaf. This results in a darker, earthier profile, with cocoa, mocha, and dark spices leading the charge.
