Former MLB hitter David “Big Papi” Ortiz ended his baseball career in 2016, transitioning smoothly into the cigar industry for his first foray in his post-sporting career. Ortiz is a Dominican-American and, as such, chose fellow Dominican manufacturer El Artista to collaborate on a cigar of his own.
According to El Artista, the blend was crafted by Ortiz with their guidance; creating a final blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican long-fillers, bound in Criollo 98 and wrapped in an Ecuadorian Habano Claro leaf.
"We teamed up David “Big Papi” Ortiz to bring to life a Dominican Dream Team of tobaccos in a one of a kind premium cigar. This remarkable cigar features an Ecuadorian Habano Claro wrapper that imparts hints of pepper and chestnut. Criollo 98 binder adds a touch of cream, and the filler brings it all together with players from Dominican Republic and Nicaragua for a medium-bodied smoke that’s a solid hit."
