Cigar enthusiasts got exactly what they wanted from newcomer Foundation Cigar Co. at the 2016 IPCPR show. Brand owner Nick Melillo "The Chief of Broadleaf" is best known for his full-powered Connecticut Broadleaf blends, previously contributing on Drew Estate's ultra-popular Liga Privada series (also using Broadleaf), before introducing his own company in 2015.

Foundation's sophomore release delivers, bringing Nick's prowess for the dark and gnarly tobacco of his home state of Connecticut. The blend is complimented by a diverse blend, including a Mexican binder and fillers from multiple regions of Nicaragua and Honduras. Nick has also switched factories from TABSA to Tabacalera Fernandez (à la AJ Fernandez) - as his strategy has been described as utilizing the strengths from various factories for each release.
