Cigar Dojo Imperial Stout Barrel-Aged by Camacho is the seventh collaborative project from Cigar Dojo, teaming with Camacho Cigars to introduce a radical, barrel-aged smoking experience.
Imperial Stout Barrel-Aged begins with Heaven Hill Distilleries in Bardstown, KY—where an assortment of the distillery’s used bourbon barrels were shipped to Colorado for secondary use. Here, in Longmont, CO, these barrels (along with a collection of used barrels from other sources) were filled with Oskar Blues Brewery’s famed Ten FIDY Imperial Stout and left to age for eight to twelve months—eventually being sold as the first “official” release of Barrel Aged Ten FIDY in 2015.
Of the thirty-some-odd barrels used to create Barrel Aged Ten FIDY, four were selected to be shipped to Honduras for yet another round of aging! These four barrels originated from Heaven Hill, containing one of the distillery’s many bourbons (Larceny, Elijah Craig, Even Williams, Parker’s Heritage, Henry McKenna, and Old Fitzgerald are possibilities). The barrels were filled with Camacho’s signature Original Corojo tobacco to endure an extra round of barrel fermentation for up to six months—rotating the leaves throughout the process.
The barrel-aged Original Corojo leaves were then married into the fan-favorite Triple Maduro blend from Camacho, creating an all-maduro blend with barrel-aged tobaccos at the cigar’s core. The resulting experience is full in flavor and medium/full in strength, showing a classic maduro profile of deep chocolates and punchy spices, enhanced by subtleties of malt, oak, and a sweet vanilla/bourbon/boozy buzz in the retrohale.
