Espinosa Warzone was quite the surprise when announced as a limited-edition collaboration between Espinosa Premium Cigars and General Cigar Company. This is due to the boutique nature of the former and the corporate scale of the latter. The connection of the two companies derives from Espinosa Director of Sales, Jack Toraño, who previously managed the Toraño brand at General. With Warzone, Espinosa has been given access to General's sought-after inventory of African Cameroon tobacco. This leaf has been transported to Espinosa's boutique-minded La Zona factory in Estelí, being rolled with an interior recipe provided by Espinosa's own reserve of Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Colombian tobaccos. The cigars are then distributed by General, benefitting both companies by providing General with a piece of Espinosa's fandom throughout the craft cigar community, and Espinosa with a much larger-scale distribution.
Warzone's concept is themed around the Ten Years’ War of 1868 to 1878, where Cuba fought for independence from Spain.
