"El Wha-What-Now?!" you're most certainly asking yourself. It's certainly one of the most intimidating arrangement of characters that call themselves a cigar title. "It's pronounced 'el way-when-say,'" brand owner Nick Melillo reassures.
This cigar is the first creation to come out of Foundation Cigar Co., Nick's first project after leaving Drew Estate in 2014. Nick worked out of Nicaragua with Drew Estate and founderJonathan Drew for 11 years before branching out on his own. He's best known for his work on blends such as Liga Privada No. 9, T52, UF-13 Dark, JD4, L40, Dirty Rat, Feral Flying Pig, Undercrown Dogma, and Nica Rustica.
El Güegüense comes out of Nicaragua, which is sort of Nick's thing, and the blend uses 100% Nicaraguan tobaccos. All this, and the cigar's concept is based on, you guessed it, Nicaraguan culture, basing the name on the country's well-known literary work of the same name (which translates to "The Wise Man").
