As many are aware, Arturo Fuente has gotten some serious mileage out of their legendary OpusX blend. And for good reason, the cigars marked the first ever successful Dominican puro, created in the midst of the great cigar boom of the '90s. The blend holds true to this day, which is easily one of the most well-known, best-selling cigars in the world.
With such a hit on their hands, Fuente (smartly) incorporates this, the OpusX blend into many of their most luxurious, rare, and limited releases—tweaking different aspects to make new experiences. For OpusX The Lost City, the cigar uses tobacco grown after the traditional harvest, being grown in the summer months and aged for 5 years.
The story goes that filmmaker Andy García was in the process of making "The Lost City" and needed to shoot a scene involving a tobacco field. The Fuentes agreed they could use their fields but the timing was off, as they would be harvesting the tobacco when García was set to film. The Fuente family offered to plant directly after harvest, making for plants that were a few feet tall by the start of summer. As you can surely guess, the tobaccos ended up going to good use, using the film's title and even being sold with a copy of the movie.
